Happy Easter and a wonderful spring!

Come,
don’t run!
Easter is fun!
we play, we play,
Each year we hunt
red, yellow, blue eggs.
Hey! Let’s go and pray
this Sunday is a holy day.
We all think of Lord Jesus,
His sacrifice for all our sins
And His rising from the dead.
Come!Let’s share God’s light.
Let’s honor His resurrection,
Share our thanks to our God,
And wish a ”Happy Easter!”
And joy to you and yours
and everyone round here
whose faith and hope
we deeply cherish
and hold dear.
Come!

Coincidentia Oppositorum (Unity of Opposites)

Lent-ears can leave all hope.
The bird-eyes are to testify
against them.
A terrestrial remainder
of thought and sorrow
will be here
to channel
the inspired, deep breathing,
taken
then removed,
like a bleeding-out story
from a survival theory
or a Dantean purgatory.
Your memory still lingers
over me
like a spiritual contrast,
an ironic alliance with a faithless past,
a denied complicity,
whose grace
saves the date
for an unforeseen future.
We had better unveil
the tragedy hide-outs in both,
those defying,
-without the expected results -
its physical charm,
its idyllic
yet hopeless embrace
or an attempted crossing
of the heart.

Right of Passage

Why do we fall
In love?
Are we not the good angels
on this wild journey
of life?
Is it about the heart or the hurt
this time?
Shall all our answers
be questioned, without parole,
by each Valentine,
then taught back
like some absolute truths are
imprisoned?
Whatever they may say,
A broken heart is still open
Until death says its last “good-bye”.

Happy Birthday!

I celebrate the day
You were born!
I worship this date in the February calendar
Like I do every year, without exception;
The day you came into the world
and changed it for the better!
I also praise and sing about
The day when we first met,
Cherish that first time
You held my hand
right into yours
and that very first hug.
So, may you have dreams and your dreams all
May come true, dear!
May your life be blessed like never before!
My prayers to God go on and on
For you
For good, for an eternity.
I hope you seek only to find
A future of yet more greatness.
May the top of the world be at your feet
(If you would like)!
May happiness and fullness and love
Always accept your invitations
And may they all spend the myriad
of upcoming years
With you and your dearest.

Picture (inspired by Ed Sheeran’s Photograph)

My memory can fade,
My memory can go blank,
I shall still have you
With me.
When held in the arms
Of a teary beholder
Silence can speak,
It can even get you back home
long enough,
To walk the same old streets
You used to belong to
And be young.
Who needs more evidence?
Who needs more proof
There was “us”?
Who can doubt those eyes
Even though they don’t see the future
But only the past?
In a photograph
A heart never ceases to beat.
Only our time is stopped
Right between two kisses,
Only our souls are healed
Sharing a smile so selfless,
Or a moment of clarity
with the taker
Right before the age of the selfies.
Though frozen for life
inside a silver frame
Or an elusive prisoner to a flaring screen
You are still perfect.

Platonic Harbors

I look back and see no storm
The lifeboat, as always, is empty
I am adrift
On a shoreless sea
A gifted sailor
Running out of worries
Leaving behind a tangled net of what-ifs
Feeling only lighter, not lonely
Inside a tangible, spider-web-like breeze
Swinging amid a burning horizon
In circles.
There is hope
In this immaterial voyage of mine
For a human pendulum
Constantly eluding balance!
A cold comfort keeps growing around
Taking over the melting spirits within
No anchorage visions for now
Or into the wind
To daunt me.
From a distance I might be just a point
One step farther and I become invisible.
No mermaid song
To cloud my judgement,
No agony in the drinking of sea water,
No strings;
Only one piece of rope
Attached to my pride.
I remember there were times
I’d resent seeing a lighthouse
Or hearing the “Land, ho!”cry
Or defensively anchoring.
The perk of being your own crew
May break one's soul into spells of magic
Making no piracy worthwhile.
I have been everywhere
Surviving my past
In plain sight, I am here and now,
Though concealed from the rest of the world
You can see me:
Just wondering why
The shorter straw is never the last.

To the Unmourned

When we grow old
We become either poems or myths.
We should never become crystal tears
or broken pieces of heaven
or prospects of ignorant bliss.
Were we not true to our own souls,
to the choices we had
and the chances we missed,
We’d regret more,
we'd forget the last
instead of the least
and remember its tragic core.
If it were just for me,
In times like these
of constant sorrow
(but such due grief)
the seeds of doubt would replace only
the sour fruit of deceit
and they would feel,
without filling,
its most fragrant void.
One last pledge be made,
one solemn truth to admit
and be told
I once passed an olive branch to a man
then let the sun go down
on his faith
and maybe his love,
after promising him the moon.
I am sure what they say is all real
that the healing was in his pain
like some whispers are
in the summer wind
So the echoes I’d hear
Were the fears we’d breathed'n before
And they weren’t in vain.
You see, as youngsters
there's
this
tendency
to rush into dead ends.
And as we grow older,
We promise ourselves we shall be poetry
and that we shall remember the white of the snow,
those walks against those crimson-red sunsets
that measured our heartrate
and hope we shall cherish
the hours we don’t regret.
Let’s say it together- youandme
before we are too old!!!
As long as we both shall live
We are two revenants without sin,
Two mourners a half-lifetime away,
the unbaptised stars above
and maybe a gentle morning breeze
guiding us both into oblivion.

Never alone in my memories

What emotes me most is that we can create such long-lasting memories together with others, share our blessings and our lives willingly or coincidentally and build unforgettable moments and perfect relationships with complete strangers (at first) who simply win our hearts (against all odds) without effort for the rest of our days.
That's why I do welcome and (will) always cherish the time and attention I get, value the presence of all my loved as well as my loving ones in my past, present and future and love my life with its mysterious ways and heart-melting lessons.
What touches my very soul is the chance I've been given to breathe in so many beautiful places I've fallen in love with. They, too, live inside me and shape my inner heaven which will never lock me out. :)
Somehow, life's unpredictability catches me unprepared for so much happiness. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am to meet these wonderful, wonderful people who choose me when they have so many (better) options and possibilities, to be in such amazing places which make my heart beat faster and my faith grow stronger. They make me not only feel special but also proud of who I am and give me so much hope for tomorrow! And the best part is that I'm never lonely when I think of them and smile happily ever after.

Explorers

Some crater ashes feel like pure silk,
some- like satin clouds
showering  an invisible surface,
resting their shade above the cold body of sand
and layers of still water
whose blue is always tempted
to bring back the scents of a dormant season
when your skin felt  like a map.
A perfect set of continents
surrounded by ink-oceans,
lots of significant dots, lines and circles
to zoom in and out through memory
or, depending on the climate,
another scale model of lost reality.
For so many years on end,
(I could swear it for both now)
there was an intersection
between latitude and longitude right there;
So much youth, so much beauty
- maybe too much love-
in the center of a dry, unmapped river bed.

Dostoyevskian Voices

"You never free yourself
from anything you've ever done."
"Deadly sins
keep haunting your mind’s chambers,
and follow your whereabouts
everywhere."
"...Or simply linger with you
for too long,
like some heavy scents,
controlling your breathing,
their creepy permanence
staring at you
from the inside
of a broken skyline
of bleak remorse
and undeserved lack of change,
turning all your dreams into nightmares...."
"Forget the bystanders and the passers-by
they are not here
to watch your innocence restored."
"Their only purpose is to serve
one useless lesson at the worst of times."
"Seizing your lost mildness,
preaching their blunders
in their too sinuous, self-obsessed  ways,
spoiling everything worthy of love
then faking the wailing and weeping of fallen angels
blaming the sun’s light’n’warmth
for their own hearts' blindness and cold
allowing the darkness
to cause such a shameful waste."
"This is but a part of our worldly punishment."

Countermeasure

Just listen
to the venerable roots
swirling their selfless notice
beneath the surface
of an absent crowd!
All of their murmurs,
ignored by indifference,
are within reach now
and everything left to do for everyone
is listen and then choose
but only with the heart in mind this one last time.
After all, wishing against providence,
turning your better instincts against life
can never feel right for anyone:
you, the stranger you once loved more than God,
your own sibling daydreaming of tomorrow,
the toddler gazing at the morning sky,
the teen who hasn't been kissed,
a worried mother.
You know the firmly planted seeds
were destined for the darkness
and though afraid
of secular blindness and unjust cold
they do warn us.
They must have smelled
the tragic persistence of death for too long
and witnessed their share of absurdity,
the nonsense of human bloodshed
so many times before.
So, on behalf of what's left
of our senses and our humanity
let’s not settle for another war, please.
Don’t pick the single wrong
unable to teach, the only sickness
that, though preventable, knows no remedy,
the only crime that makes you an accomplice
unless you choose life and to let it be lived.

Lengua Paterna

God speaks the only language
I can understand;
Sometimes, His words
make me whole again, instantly,
without lighting my burden
or revealing the way.

God’s lessons used to be so mysterious
Back in my youth (gold) days!
Now they are simply not,
Even though, latterly, everything He has taught
has been nothing but a divine miracle
taking place in its fullness of grace.

God should never be missed
- this I tell you -He never leaves us truly alone.
In fact, whenever we may fail,
From the depths within our souls
God won’t see the sinners- only His own children
willing to speak the same language
and able to learn.

Instead of New Year’s Resolutions

1…2…3…4… Sometimes it takes a while to start something…Then, after something finishes, it may take a while before realizing its meaning, its wisdom, its purposes…Everyone knows that, at times, waiting is advisable and that patience often pays off, hard work also pays off, so does doing the right thing, staying true to yourself...
Each year, there are so many lessons to learn, so much experience to add to our becoming, so many new pages to write, word by word, minute by minute… every moment of every woken hour… There is no real plagiarism in real life. Everything we experience turns into a “one and only” memory and we are the only true owners and rightful beneficiaries of these treasures. Also, with every significant person and every role they play in our lives… there has to be self-improvement, self-development and even some sort of self-enlightenment sooner or later.
Ugo Eze once said: “Be careful who you make memories with. Those things can last a lifetime.” This year, I’ll be more than careful. I don’t want to help create anything less than beautiful. So, I will use the right to be selective without feeling sorry about it. I also won’t settle for “average” this year…when it comes to my own work. I’ll be a better version.

Christmas Wish

May the Nativity of Christ
End these seasons of wrath,
Regrets may cease to exist
Repentance shall lead a new path,
Your birth brings such divine bliss, Jesus!

Children of all ages, alike,
Have been good or, at least, we tried,
Remember that sharing your heart
Is the best source of heavenly light.
Santa Claus comes to our homes
To praise and reward our virtuous souls
My hopes are great, my love so high,
A perfect time for gratitude and togetherness
Spent with our dearest and most blessed ones!

Absence

Strangers
to one another,
as if never having heard
the voice of each other,
we can even deny having seen
the dying whispers
drown in our veins
missing  without being missed
has killed our songs.
An alien  to myself now,
most of my earthly words
used to be free
free and alive.
For years
they germinated inside me
I used to own them-
their noises and their sounds
Then you came along
reaping
their lyrics and their rhymes
now they are dead
unheard of
now all of them have died
and I’m silenced.

Common Timetable

electric chemistry,
a turmoil
of forbidden physics,
and visibly-emoted linguistics
wisely taught
before
the mathematics of hurt
science welcomes
a deserved nod
from both,
always able to explain
so much as our unexplainable history
and follow
a seductive geography of thought
through an inner network
only an IT expert could control
filling in the blanks
of poetry and music
merged
to consume us,
to rightfully reward
these perfect hours,
and give the future time
even optional assignments
and motifs
to attend the rhyme.

Oh, Rome…

on full-moon nights
like this, a distant howling
and the horrid wood sounds
of breaking dry twigs,
the tempting scarlet rugs
of fallen leaves and grasses
bring back to one's mind
the ancient legend of twins
raised inside a wolf pack,
the senseless fratricide
rooted in unsure combat,
and stories of a famed city
built on rivers of blood.

Christmas Nightmare

A
day,
each year,
all ears can hear
the merry jingle bells.
The evergreen of X-mas carols
and too familiar “ho-ho-ho” chuckles
cheerfully escort the reindeer-drawn sledge.
Tonight, I hear
that old man Santa Claus,
is the most wanted around here!
His law breaking counts trespassing,
bribe-taking and down-the-chimney break-in;
Attempted blackmail makes his criminal charges list:
to get his presents, kids have been good and obedient
the whole of the 2014 year.
Witnesses report scones and some milk
have strangely been missing from their kitchens;
While others defend his activity and say he’s no criminal,
only  a generous mind-reader who knows what gifts to bring.
Next year, don't you fear that
with Santa Claus and his reindeer in prison
presents will have to be beamed from the North Pole
under
the
virtual
 fir-trees?

Winter's Poem

First steps
on the thin ice,
red marble hands
holding me still,
a thousand bells
giggling out loud
noble gods
sugar-powdering
our heads
kindly,
from heaven,
what a delight!

Christmas Dues

A ghostly thought
climbs up
the snow-capped rooftop
of a nearby building
leaving behind an empty corner
of my absent mind
for an obligatory, back-in-time journey.
Inside, my spine shivers,
my temples burn with silent fever,
my palms face the fiery fireplace
in a defensive gesture
which allows my eyes
to follow and emulate
the dancing flames
reflected on the white ceiling.
Surrounded
by lighting and tinsel I am,
in your sudden embrace,
I fell, confronted with my own longings
holding my breath still,
hearing sweet names whispered in my ear.
You see, I never feel ready
for such a harvest of bliss! Standing
between the fire and the fir-tree
I get almost knocked off my feet.
You and your thousand ways
to make up for the snows' coldness,
so that we can peacefully sit
for minutes on end
on the quiet warmth of a mistletoe branch
- speechless in winter -
feeling in rhymes or in blank verse
our matching stockings,
forgotten by ageing traditions,
resting their soft emptiness together
like a recently-opened present.
Years ago, one could almost count
the plastered indifference
of my chest around Christmas,
hear it out,
while rocking the bountiful bells
or wiping the old memory drops
rolling down an immaculate angel
or some festive ornament figures.
I used to run out of carols and greetings
so often, back in the day,
collected yet so dismissive,
a little girl grown into a woman
willing and able to stay for the winter
until  being taken for granted
and having her debts paid.
